7 Unexpected Foods You Should Avoid That Can Be Toxic for Your Skin

Some of the foods and drinks we consume can be really bad for our health. Uncontrolled and unlimited consumption and usage can be harmful to ourselves. Everything that is consumed with a sense of measure of balance can be useful, even good for our bodies, but once we cross the line we should take some restrictions upon ourselves.

Here are the 7 (un)expected foods that you should avoid for a bit:

1. Alcohol

“Drinking alcohol is one of the worst things you can do for your skin,” according to Michaella Bolder, a skincare expert. We all love drinking alcohol, but after the positive feelings are gone, we are left with the negative side effects. Alcohol promotes hormone misbalance that leads to acne, second it lowers your immune system by replacing the microbiome bacteria in your guts, and third, alcohol dehydrates your body and so does your skin and it will lead you to wrinkles and puffy face.

2. Rice cakes

Are you surprised? We are too. This food which is labeled as “healthy” is not so healthy after all. Actually, it can be really harmful. Rice cakes can cause wrinkles and even influence your brain function. It’s easy to overeat them, which will result in gaining weight (fat precisely) and if you check the nutrition value you’ll see that they consist nothing valuable, and even if you do find one, they’ll have very little nutrient value.

3. Sushi

Sushi leads to premature aging and also causes acne. The sushi rolls contain a lot of salt, and can lead to dehydrating and dull skin. The salt makes cells absorb fluids which will make your face look puffy. It can cause dry skin and premature aging, too.

4. Dairy products

Dairy are the worst when it comes to creating acne. Milk from cows contains a lot of growth hormone which goes right into your skin’s oil glands and makes your skin very oily. As a result of that, you are more prone to skin breakouts and acne. There are many low quality milk in the stores, from which the cows were fed with GMO corn and soybeans, and due to the process of creating the milk we drink, the milk is damaged by ultra-pasteurization, evaporation, skimming, and so on. It’s not a surprise why 75% of the world are lactose intolerant, and the symptoms are acne and skin eczema.

5. Breakfast cereals

Cereals can be harmful for our skin. Also sad, but true one. The cereals contain ingredients that are all but natural, including GMO, which can make your skin itchy and cause allergies. Cereals can also make you gain weight. Because of the process called extrusion, cereal can be also toxic for the body, and the popular cereals contain synthetic vitamins that our body cannot completely handle.

6. Processed meats

Processed meats are guilty for swollen skin. There’s a lot of sodium in processed meats such as bacon, ham, cured meats like chicken brine and too much salt in them will make you swollen or puffy. Processed meat also contains nitrites, which destroy the collagen and elastin in your skin. They also cause premature aging due to broken elements that no longer rely to support a youthful complexion.

7. Juices

Juices are loved by all, and are considered way healthier than soda. Actually, juices contain as much as sugar as soda does, and this sugar breaks down the collagen in your skin and makes it rough. Juices also lack of fiber and you actually don’t get any nutrient benefit from it. And something very important, the lemon juice can cause burning the skin, so if you choose lemon juice on a hot day, the lemon can permanently damage your skin.
