Toxic Compounds

Most nail products contain lots of hazardous chemicals. Many of them contain formaldehyde that is a cancer causing compound that disrupts the endocrine system. Other compounds such as toluene and dibutyl found in nail care products are extremely hazardous for salon workers.

Toluene

This is a solvent that gives you that smooth finish. Toluene can really affect your central nervous system and can cause reproductive harm. Toluene is mainly used as an additive in gasoline.

Dibutyl phthalate

This compound is added in polishes to provide flexibility. Dibutyl phthalate can cause reproductive problems.

Formaldehyde

It’s used for nail hardening and it’s a known carcinogenic compound.

Nail salon workers are constantly surrounded by these chemicals and they’re paying a huge price. They’re often suffering from skin irritations, allergic reactions, eye injuries, respiratory problems, nausea, muscle contraction and even cancer. A study has shown that salon workers who are overexposed to these chemicals often have reproductive problems such as preterm delivery, spontaneous births and pregnancy complications.

We strongly advise you to use nail care products that don’t contain formaldehyde, toluene and phthalates. Choose your nail care products wisely!!!
