One of the most frequent calls we get and treatments we do at Bellevue Medispa is Botox. And why not?! It’s an amazing product. It was the first and still the best treatment of it’s kind to relax wrinkles and eventually make them go away. Our number one question is “how does Botox work?” Without getting to technical, Botox basically blocks signals from the nerves to the muscles. The injected muscle can no longer contract, which causes the wrinkles to relax and soften. Botox was originally used for crossed eyes and eye-twitching, but the doctors administering it noticed something else! The wrinkles were going away as well. Botox Cosmetic is indicated for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines between the eyes. It is also indicated for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe lateral canthal lines also called crow’s feet. Although these are the only two indications that Allergan, the maker of Botox, promotes cosmetically, there are many safe off label uses for Botox that have been done for many years. Off-label uses are often found accidentally. The treatment of chronic migraines with Botox injections was first inadvertently observed during its routine use for the treatment of wrinkles in the forehead.
Other conditions that Botox is used to treat therapeutically, (and none of which we do here at Bellevue Medispa)are chewing problems, drooling, hair loss, overactive bladder, painful intercourse, psoriasis, pain from fibromyalgia, swallowing problems and many more! At one time it was stated that there where over 200 different clinical studies being done on Botox to find out what it can benefit. We stick to the uses that help you show your inner beauty on the outside! Like smoothing out the lines on your forehead or the “smokers lines” on the upper lip. Funny to know that 50% of people with smothers lines never smoked. We also get a lot of ladies who complain that they always look like they are frowning. That’s because the muscles on either side of the mouth stay contracted or tight for the most part and pulls the sides of the month down. A little Nashville Botox fixes that!
One of the basic principles that we believe in here at Bellevue Medispa is to take a conservative approach to whatever we do. As the old saying goes, “you can always put more in but you can’t take it out”! This approach has worked well for us. It saves our clients’ money and it also helps them to stay very natural-looking. As a business there are two different ways to charge our clients for Botox. We can charge by the area or by the unit. We find that it is more beneficial to the client to charge by the unit, and that is what most of our clients current and new are use to. The average range of pricing per unit in Nashville is $12 to $17 per unit. We are offering Botox at $10 per unit with a 30 unit minimum.
Another question that we get is “how many units does it take”? Everyone is different, that’s why we give free consults. The reason everyone is different if because of the size of the muscles we are trying to relax. Men’s facial muscles are larger so it takes more Botox to get the same desired results as women.
