Setting An Example: A 34-Year Old Orangutan Learns How To Wash Her Hands

You’ve probably heard this a million times, but we’re going to say it again: washing your hands can help you prevent getting coronavirus! Just take a bar of soap and scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds and you’re good to go!
If you need a demonstration how to properly wash your hands, the Center For Great Apes has an incredible video that will truly inspire you.

In the video they posted, you can see the orangutan called Sandra washing her hands and enjoying while doing it. The 34-year old Sandra was captured scrubbing her hands with a brush in soapy water. She even started cleaning her surroundings!

“She definitely scrubbed her hands for longer than 20 seconds, good job Sandra!” the orangutan sanctuary captioned the video.

Sandra was born at Rostock Zoologischer Garten in Germany. She spent most of her life in Buenos Aires, alone, with no other orangutans. Luckily, she was transferred at the Center For Great Apes, where she now spends her days with 22 other orangutans. This January, Sandra had a beautiful birthday party to celebrate her 34th birthday.
