Quick Beauty Routines for Moms On the Go

Moms always seem to have everything up their sleeve – patience and warmth, entertainment and care, Band-Aids and love. But there’s one thing that all busy moms are lacking, and that is time for themselves.

You’ve all been through this time and time again: waking up in the morning, prepping the kids, getting breakfast ready and driving them to school; once you’re back home you find a war-zone you have to clean up.

Have you ever passed by your reflection in the mirror and just say ‘Wow, did I just leave the house like this in the morning?’ Well, you’re not alone. This is something most moms are going through all the time.

So if you’ve got 5 minutes, we’ve gathered some beauty tips that are quick enough to make you glow and greet the day and the family with a fresh look every day.

BB Cream – Get the glow

Sure, foundation offers all the coverage you need, but applying it involves quite some work – you need to hydrate your skin properly prior to application, then make sure you blend it properly so that it doesn’t give the appearance of even drier or oilier skin, then comes the powdering and so on. To cut the time in half, BB creams or tinted moisturizers are your best options. They offer a good deal of coverage, while keeping your complexion hydrated, with very little blending effort, and an overall dewy and youthful appearance.

Mascara – Time is short, your lashes shouldn’t be

Everyone has that one ritual that gives them a confidence boost; for some it’s red lipstick, for others – glamorous locks, but the eyes are a focal area for all of us, it’s universal even.

With makeup reduced to a minimum, a good mascara can really make your eyes pop and give you all the definition you need to look sharp and ready to take over the world. To create the illusion of longer lashes, there’s no better trick out there than using a mascara specifically designed for short lashes. Play up your look with the best mascara for Asian lashes for maximum effect.

If you still feel that you could use some extra volume, but have no time or hand steadiness to apply falsies, then just grab a Q-tip dabbed in a little baby powder and run it over your lashes in between mascara applications.  The powder will act as a coating agent, thickening each of the strands for a volume-filled effect.

Concealer – Eye see what you did there

A mom’s eyes can tell many stories, be it that she’s proud or surprised, joyful or worried. But there’s that one story of the kid that didn’t sleep all night or that other story when you were up at 5 in the morning making breakfast, that just shows up all over your face, even if you don’t want to. Dark circles go hand in hand with being a mom, unfortunately. There are many ways to help reduce this tired look: you can use caffeine under-eye gels to reduce puffiness and build elasticity, creams and serums containing hyaluronic acid to discourage those fine lines, but in the meantime, all you can do as a short term hack is concealing.

Once you’re done applying your foundation or tinted moisturizer, use a concealer that is one and a half shade lighter than your natural skin tone to brighten the under-eye area. Trace out the thin shadow created by the under-eye bag to create a blurring effect.

By the way, you can also use concealer to hide minor imperfections such as red patches or sun spots.

Blush – A playful flush

Blush is no doubt the ultimate multitasker when it comes to less than 5 minutes’ makeup routines.

A dab of pink on the cheeks is just enough to frame your whole face into looking refreshed and full of energy, so basically you get maximum impact with minimal effort. As a rule of thumb, keep in mind that a mauve-ish pink goes well with almost all skin tones. Going for a simple daytime look? Just add a bit of blush on your eyelids instead of eyeshadow and you’re good to go.

Lip Gloss – Get Glossy

I’m all about lip glosses and, man, these things are perfect for on the go moms: they keep your lips hydrated, they add shine and color, but not too much, application is easy and requires little to no touch ups: they’re basically the low-maintenance version of lipstick. Aaaand, if by chance you get a tad more time one evening, you can always use it as a lipstick primer or as a finishing gloss. Win-win.

So that is that! Remember these quick make-over tips in mind when going about your hectic, yet wonderful mom life. Save time don’t forget to keep those 10 minutes for your inner and outer self.
