Love Sometimes Means Letting Go: Boy Leaves His Puppy In a Shelter So His Dad Can’t Beat It

The world is not always bright, fun and loving. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions, even if they break your heart into million pieces. This 12-year old boy had to make one of the hardest decision and let go of someone that meant everything to him.

On February 13th, the shelter Xollin found a box and a letter in front of their doorstep. In the box, there was the most gorgeous puppy, a toy and a handwritten letter. The volunteers from the shelter, checked the health of the puppy. The dog needed a vet because his tail was fractured and also needed to get parasites removed.

Here’s what the letter said:

“My name is Andrés and I’m 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave him to you. All of this is behind my dad’s back, because he was thinking of selling him. But he is always beating and kicking the dog. Once he kicked him so hard that his little tail got injured. I hope you can help him and take care of him. Here is a plush toy so he won’t forget me.”

Little Andres had to give up on his beloved friend, so that he could protect him from beating. Sometimes love means letting go, and by letting his puppy go, Andres saved his life!

The shelter named the gorgeous puppy Rene and they’re looking for his new family. The shelter were thrilled that they received more than 300 messages from people interested in adopting the gorgeous Rene.

People from the shelter also want to motivate people to adopt more animals, not only when they go viral. There are millions of abused animals waiting for a second chance in life.

“If you all opened your heart and your home to all and not only to this dog, all our animals in the shelter would have been already adopted twice. Thanks to the few people who came to the shelter offering their help to protect other animals suffering abuse or being abandoned in our district and surroundings.”
