How to Do Pedicure at Home

Feet are the most unlooked, uncared part of our body. Especially for ladies, when they wear open faced sandals and shoes, the outside dust is inevitable. We take a good care of our face thinking it to be the most important symbol of our personality as people first see our face to judge us and evaluate our beauty score. However, feet are equally important. We may not be as regular with taking care of our feet as we do for our face but some good home care tips and a simple pedicure process followed every fortnight at home is enough to have good looking healthy feet.

To start your foot care naturally with home remedies you would require some foot care tools. Some of the essential ones are listed below: –

If you are doing it for first time, follow these simple steps to take care of your feet.

File you nail regularly

You should never let your nails grow irregularly. Always cut them to required size and shape and then file them properly so that they are steady enough to avoid any breakage. For most of the people nails grow enough to file them in a week’s time. However, this may differ from person to person. It doesn’t take much. While you are sitting in front of the television, you can utilize that time to file your nails to required length. It is often recommended that we should cut our nails straight after bath. The nails are soft due to water and are easy to cut. Specially nails of our feet are hard to cut otherwise. Also, if the nails are not maintained properly they could be unhygienic. You carry same feet to your bed and sofa and unmaintained nails have bacteria in them which you may spread all over your house.

Scrap your feet daily while taking bath.

A very good habit of keeping healthy feet is to scrap them with gentle scrapper daily while taking bath. Our feet are daily exposed to dust and dirt on floor, and on roads while walking. Cleaning them daily keep them fresh and good looking always. Gently apply some soap on them and scrap them with a good scrub or gentle scrapper daily while you take bath. Often we bath under shower and forget to clean our feet. This leaves the dirt in them which may result in growth of fungus and other bacteria. Cleaning your feet daily will help the keep healthy and fresh.

Night Time Routine for your feet.

Every night like you follow a regime for your face, you must also take care of your feet. Before you go to sleep, clean your feet with some cold water. You can just put your feet under running tap and scrub each foot with other foot gently to remove excess dirt and dust. Then tap them dry with a soft and clean towel. Apply some good foot cream or a moisturizer on your feet so they heal overnight. If your tired or had a long day, soaking your feet in warm water with some salt in, it can help. This is an ancient old remedy to take care of day long fatigue.

Pedicure every fortnight.

Every fourteen or fifteen days you can have a home spa for your feet. Just follow simple steps mentioned below to get your feet pedicured at home.

  1. Remove any nail enamel applied to your nails with a good nail paint remover.
  2. Take a tub of warm water. Pour some shampoo or gentle liquid soap into this water. Place it near a good resting chair. Sit on that chair and soak your feet in this warm water. Soak your feet for around ten to fifteen minutes to soften the skin.
  3. Check the length of nails. In case required, trim them a bit. Then file them properly to desired shape. The nails soaked in water are easy to cut and file as water makes them soft.
  4. Now apply cuticle cream on and around your nails and leave it for around five minutes to soften the cuticles. Then take the cuticle remover and gently remove the dead cuticle from around the nails. Do it gently as often cuticle removing device is made sharp for effortless stroke to remove hard dead cuticle. In case you are doing it for the first time, do it with real care to not cut yourself.
  5. Now apply some scrub on the top of your feet and gently massage it all over your feet. Massaging in gentle circular motions helps. This will help you exfoliate the dead skin, especially from upper part of the feet.
  6. Now scrub the hard skin, on lower part of your feet with a pumice stone. Especially scrub the heals to remove all hard and dead skin. It is advised to apply some good foot cream daily if there is a good layer of hard skin on your heals. The foot cream helps naturally remove this dead hard skin with time.
  7. Now when you are done scrapping with the pumice stone. Take the foot scrapper and scarp your feet with hard-soft hands to gently remove the dead skin peeled off with the scrapper. Scrap until the skin under your heels feel soft as natural skin.
  8. Now gently brush your nails with nail brush to clean them of extra dirt.
  9. Pat dry your feet and leave them to dry off completely.
  10. Once dry, apply some good moisturizer and voila your pedicure is done.
