Here’s how to plant your own garlic

  • Choose a sunny spot in your garden. Remove the stones and dirt from the topsoil.
  • Make a compost tea mixed with a few tablespoons of 5-10-10 fertilizer. Work the mixture into the soil.
  • Break a garlic up into cloves. Bury the cloves with the pointed ends facing upward, a couple inches into the ground.
  • Leave 4-6 inches space between the cloves.
  • Cover the cloves with 2 inches of clear soil and 5 inches of mulch materials.
  • Water the topsoil until is completely dry.
  • Add 1 tbsp of low-decomposing compost twice a month and a high-nitrogen fertilizer one a month.
  • Cut any weed or flowers that bloom from the plants.
  • In 3 months, you should have 5-6 leaves sprouted already. Harvest and enjoy!
