Dogs Can Protect Your Kids From Diseases and Lower Asthma Risk

A new research shows that dogs are truly our best friends and owning a dog has many benefits.

The new study, done by Swedish scientists at Uppsala University in Sweden, shows that the risk of developing asthma is 15% lower in children that has spent their first year with a dog. Around one million children participated in this study.

The study also found that early exposures to farm animals, has some immune-boosting benefits too.

They claim that farm animal exposure was associated with a 52% reduced risk of asthma in 6-year-old children and a 31% reduced risk in preschool-age children.

“Our results confirmed the farming effect,” said Tove Fall, an epidemiologist at Uppsala University .

Tove claims that the early exposure to a variety of microbes boosts our immune systems to fight an attack of germs and pathogens later in life. A dog might increase a young child’s overall exposure to microorganisms and allergens, helping her prevent allergy-related asthma from developing before she goes to school.

The results of the study show that pets can improve your kid’s immune system and prevent allergies.
