Are We Allergic to Food or Are We Allergic to What Has Been Done To It?

We live in a time when more and more people get chronic diseases, allergies and food intolerance. The scientists from the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology claim that nearly 15 million Americans are allergic to certain types of food while that number in Europe reaches up to 17 million people.

Between 1997 and 2011 the number of allergies in children has increased up to 50%. The number of children with really bad allergic reaction is 7 times bigger than it was 10 years ago.

Unfortunately, the number of people struggling with allergies is increasing every day. Scientists are working hard to find the reason behind this, but they still don’t have a clear answer.

What’s in food that causes an allergic reaction?

1. GMO

Genetically modified food can increase the number of the already existing allergies and produce new, unknown allergies. Genetically modified soy is known to cause allergy and it’s found in almost every industrial food.

2. Additives

Additives are added to make food last longer, keep its color, smell and taste. Preservatives, artificial colors, taste enhancers are just some of the substances our body doesn’t recognize as foods so it develops defense mechanisms- allergies.

3. Antibiotics

One research has shown that using too much antibiotic can cause allergies. The intestinal flora Clostrida is the flora that prevents allergies and by destroying it, you increase the risk of getting any type of allergy.

4. Herbicides and Pesticides

Substances, such as herbicides and pesticides, that are used by farmers to kill off diseases or weeds from their plants has the same devastating effect on the digestive flora.
