Do you know that there are other benefits or purposes these oils could serve apart from making your skin glow? No? Again, that’s why you have me. As a beauty influencer in Nigeria, I would be telling you different ways which different essential oils can serve you every day, and hope that you become as excited as I am about them. Shall we?

1. FRANKINCENSE

Top of my list is this ancient wonder. Over time, frankincense has been used for its medicinal value. Some of which include using it to treat inflammation that occurs in the human joints. Therefore, it is very suitable for use by patients with arthritis and other joint-related diseases. Apart from this, Frankincense is also used to treat asthma. It has been proven to reduce the risks of having asthma attacks as well as it is used to treat certain symptoms of asthma like wheezing and shortness of breath. On the skin, it serves as an anti-ageing agent, smoothening out any wrinkled skin, leaving it forever young. All these goodness in one essential oil? Now I know why the wise men gave this to Jesus as gift!

2. SWEET ORANGE OIL:

Just like the orange fruit is popularly known for, this essential oil is one that ensures easy digestion and relieve of constipation. Apart from this, it serves as an anti- stress agent, and even a cleaning agent. How? You ask. Well studies show that orange essential oil prevents the growth of bacteria on a surface. The next time you’re cleaning, think about adding few drops of this essential oil. And for the skin, it is very effective in treating acne. You are battling acne? This oil should be your best guy. However, be sure to use it in the right quantity, both in ingesting and in its application on the skin.

3 LEMONGRASS OIL:

Gotten from the lemongrass plant, this is an essential oil which, without surprise, has a thin appealing lemony scent. One of its intriguing properties is in its ability to reduce a high level of cholesterol in the human body, when included into one’s diet plan. It can also be used as a cleaning agent as it prevents the spread of bacteria. This anti-bacterial property of the lemongrass oil also makes it prevent any skin infection caused by bacteria. Interestingly, this oil also takes care of your hair by preventing hair loss. Skin goals and hair goals, all in one essential oil. If you ask me, this is definitely a YES YES.

4. LAVENDAR OIL:

This is one of the most famous essential oils that belongs to the aromatherapy category. Aromatherapy is simply the use of extracts of plants with pleasant smells for healing and cosmetics. In line with this, the scent of this oil can be used to induce relaxation and can be used to treat anxiety. On an advanced level, it also treats insomnia and relaxes the body enough to enable a peaceful night rest. On the skin, when applied on any wound, it accelerates the healing process. Who does not want an essential oil that soothes the mind and heals the body? Definitely not you!

5. TEA TREE OIL:

This is also an ancient essential oil that has been used through centuries to meet one need or the other. It might interest you to know that this oil serves as an antibacterial, antivirus and antifungal! Guess what? Hand sanitizer alert innit? Just kidding! (I’m not actually). At this time of the year where washing of hands and maintaining super clean hands and environment is the order of the day, this is definitely a go to.  Apart from this, another interesting property of the tea tree oil is it being an insect repellant. If you stay in Nigeria, you would know that raining season is here already and what that means is more mosquitoes and insects generally would be around. This would really come in handy, as studies show that this essential oil is as effective as a regular insecticide.  You see, it is not just skin care.

6. PEPPERMINT OIL:

Have you at any time woken up from an afternoon nap and wished you had a gum or flavored candy with you? Well, if you had a peppermint oil, you would not need the sweet. This oil, when mixed with water that contains a drop of lemon essential oil, is a very effective natural breath freshener. It can also be used for aromatherapy. Therefore, it relieves stress and treats anxiety and any other related disorder. The soothing content of the oil also makes it very functional for giving massages. If you are craving a pleasurable and memorable massage, you might want to add this to the table. Peppermint oil also serves as an insect repellant. All you need are few drops of the oil at particular corners of your house and you are good to go.

7 ROSEMARY OIL:

Apart from being pro skin and taking pride in the fact that it can be actively used in growing your hair, this essential oil is also relevant in the kitchen as an ingredient in a recipe. Also, in times like this where maintaining focus and concentration is quite difficult, especially, when it is time to read, rosemary essential oil is your best bet. It contains certain elements which when diffused into the atmosphere, helps you to maintain focus and concentration. By using this essential oil on your skin, you stand to protect your skin and its cells from burns and damage caused by the sun. What are you waiting for?

8. EUCALYPTUS OIL:

Pronounced as ‘U-CA-LIP-TOS’, I recommend this essential oil for anyone who wants a natural way of treating cough or congestion in the chest or any other respiratory disorder. Furthermore, when it comes to the healing of joints pain, this is also a good natural analgesic. It is also relevant in repelling insects, dental care and contributing to the building of a strong immune system.

You would agree with me that for a general healthy lifestyle, these oils are definitely your go to. The fact that they are useful to both the body and the mind in different ways is amazing. They are indeed essential oils essential for your everyday living. So how many would you be getting?
