7 Top Trends in Prom Dresses for 2019

There are just a few months left between now and Prom 2019, as the year is about to come to a close in a matter of days. Just like every year, prom dress trends for the next year are already starting to gain popularity and if you want to choose from the best dresses available, it is probably a good idea to start looking at your options now. To help guide your search towards that perfect dress that will stun everyone on Prom Night, here are seven of the hottest trends in prom dresses for the coming year.

Rose Gold

Rose gold is an elegant color that matches just the right amount of bling to fashion, without looking too flashy at the same time. Come 2019, you will also be able to choose your prom dress in rose gold, as many of the famous designers will be offering their metallic lace in various shades of the color. Expect feather bottom embellished gowns and spaghetti top mermaid prom dresses in rose gold to be all the rage in prom 2019.

All Red

One may argue that red never went out of vogue in the first place, and they are probably right too! Nonetheless, designers are pushing bright, lustrous, all red prom dress designs quite heavily this year. If the Jovani red high criss-cross mermaid prom dresses are an indication of what is to expect, no one will mind this old trend sticking around for a while longer. If you want to look particularly sophisticated during your prom night, getting an all red dress is probably the best way to go about it in 2019.

Glitters

It is so hard to take glitter completely out of a prom dress that designers have chosen not to! If you are not into glittery fabric all that much, rest assured that most designers will have multiple other options for you to choose from, but we expect that every big and small fashion house will introduce at least a few prom dresses with glitter fabric in 2019, and some have done so already. The Hunter Glitter off-shoulder sweetheart and the Emerald high neck open back are two gorgeous glitter fabric Jovani mermaid dresses that we hope to see become even more popular as the prom season approaches. Have a look at these on Jovani’s website if you want to go for a glitter prom dress in 2019.

One-Shoulder

The one-shoulder approach will be a popular trend in the upcoming prom season, especially in mermaid prom dresses and ball gowns. You can find tight fitting one-shoulder long scuba gowns in bright and colorful shades. Before you start looking at one-shoulder mermaid prom dresses though, keep in mind that they may not be the ideal choice if you have particularly broad and fleshy shoulders because these dresses will end up highlighting them the most. If that’s not something that concerns you though, it is recommended that you give one-shoulder prom dresses some good consideration because this one has come back after quite a few years’ absence from the prom scene, and therefore, has a rarity about it.

Satin

Satin has been in trend for as long as we can remember, and the 2019 prom season is not going to be any different either. The shiny, silky smooth fabric wraps around the body snugly, without ever feeling too tight and is therefore the natural choice of material for a number of the most coveted prom and special evening dresses ever created. However, if you must choose a satin dress, you will feel better and more comfortable if it is made out of silk or cotton rather than cheap synthetic materials.

Ballgowns

Mermaid prom dresses and ballgowns are pretty much a staple standard as far as prom dresses are concerned, so both of them are not going away anytime soon. It is true that ballgowns were actually not as popular for proms until the 2018 prom season, but now that they have gained a footing, expect every famous designer to have multiple ballgowns in varying materials, designs and colors ready for Prom 2019.

Metallic Laces

Expect next year to be a year of metallic lace, even more so than how it was during the last prom season. Gold and silver shades are going to get even more intricate, with rose gold about to make the big entry here. Mermaid prom dresses and ballgowns are, of course, where the metallic lace shines the most, so do look out for them in that section.

It’s true that these trends should help you avoid wasting your money on something that looks outdated, but do not be afraid to also explore options which are not currently in trend. Sometimes, wearing a classic design that no one else is wearing could be a good thing, especially if you have the confidence to pull it off like a pro.  Also, remember to leave plenty of time if you are ordering your dress online!
