5 Steps You Need To Know to Wash Your Face Properly

Washing your face is the simplest task in your beauty routine where you can’t go wrong, right? Just splash some water, then dry off and you’re done. Well, not quiet. The purpose of washing your face is to remove any makeup, dirt and excess oils accumulated on your skin. When you’re not washing your face properly, you can end up with clogged pores, breakouts, dry and dehydrated complexion. On the other hand, aggressive scrubbing and washing your face can compromise your skin barrier and cause inflammations, sensitivity and irritation. So you might be wondering, what’s the right way to wash your face?

Here are the 5 steps that will help you wash your face correctly:

1. Don’t touch your face with dirty hands and get the hair out of your face

If you want to have clean and good looking skin, you need to stop touching it with dirty hands. Tie your hair or use a headband to keep your hair off your face.

2. Remove your makeup

Remove your makeup before washing your face. If you’re using a regular face wash and you’re washing your face once, you won’t get your makeup completely off. Use a cleansing product that can help you remove the stubborn makeup and use it all over your face, and neck.

3. Cleanse your skin

It’s time to deep cleanse your face. This way you will remove all the remaining dirt from your skin and will clean your face thoroughly. Remember to use sulfate-free and gentle cleanser since sulfates can strip your skin barrier and make your skin dry and irritated.

4. Wash off with lukewarm water

Wash your face with lukewarm water to make sure that your cleanser is completely rinsed off. Don’t use too hot water since it will strip of your natural oils and draw the moisture out of your skin. It can also cause rosacea.

5. Pat dry and apply toner

Use a fresh, clean towel anytime you wash your face. Your old towel might look clean but towels are breeding grounds for bacteria and bacteria can cause acne and bad skin. If you don’t have a fresh, clean towel anytime, then use a paper towel instead. Press the towel into your skin until all the water is out. Once your skin is dry, apply some toner.
