5 Harmless Products that Can Become Source of Diseases if Not Used Correctly

Many products that should improve your quality of life can actually have a negative effect on your health. Pay extra attention to correctly use those products and reduce the risk of damaging your health.

Here are the 5 products that can become a source of diseases:

1. Bath Sponge

It’s no secret that bath sponges are the ideal breeding grounds for bacteria and fungus that can cause serious infections. Choose sponges made from natural hair because they contain enzymes that control the development of bacteria. After you use your sponge, wash it thoroughly, drain it and once it’s dry-keep in a dry place. Change your bath sponge every 30 days to avoid infections.

2. Air Freshener

Your air freshener gives you great relief when the air dries your skin and your respiratory tract. On the other hand, your air freshener can become a breeding ground for fungus. Regularly change the filters and the water in your freshener. Don’t leave the water sit there for days because it can be turned into mold. Always put fresh water in your freshener before using it.

3. Cotton Buds

Experts have been warning people for years about the danger of cleaning your ears on a daily basis. Ear wax protects the sensitive inner structures of your ears from dust, dirt and bacteria. By using a cotton bud, you push the wax further in the ear canal and that’s bad for your ears. Instead of using cotton buds, use some cotton and clean only the beginning of the ear canal.

4. Blender

After using it, people always wash their blender, but what they forget is to wash the most important part of the rubber ring that holds the knife in place. According to many researches, this tiny part of the blender is actually the dirties and it’s a breeding ground for many bacteria such as Salmonella and E. Coli. Remember- after using the blender, wash the knife and ring thoroughly.

5. Rubber or Silicone Kitchen Spatulas

Most spatulas that we use for making cookies have a “head” that can be separated from the handle. When you use the spatula, food gets stuck in the space between the head and the handle and creates a bacteria layer. After using the spatula, get the head out of the handle and wash the two parts thoroughly.
