They say buying a gift for your lady is hard but buying a gift for a man is twice as hard. Men are hard to please and there are only a few things that may be right as a choice for a gift. There are so many things to choose from when buying for a lady, but men are a different kettle of fish altogether. You could buy him the typical gifts men receive on special occasions like ties or socks, but you can be fairly sure that he won’t like this. Men are different now and what you wouldn’t think of buying him years ago is now the norm.
1. Beauty Products
Examples of gift ideas for men would include moisturising creams and body lotions, that 15 years ago would have been nonsensical at best. Men now like to take care of themselves more and so buying him some beauty products is actually a very suitable gift. Gone, are the shirt and tie days and if you still insist on buying them, make sure that they are fashionable, trendy and modern. The same applies to buying him tools for that special occasion. A woman doesn’t want a washing machine or a vacuum cleaner for a gift and a man doesn’t want a drill or a hammer either.
2. Not Work Related
Also, don’t buy him anything that is work related. This is a special day and he doesn’t need to be reminded that when it’s over, then it is back to the grind stone. Don’t buy him a calculator or a pen for his birthday, but do buy him something that he doesn’t know that he needs. Some trendy clothes with a designer name on it or something that smells good and he can rub into his skin like a moisturiser and scent in one. Look for manly things as well, like lumps of wood and tell him that they are door stops or coasters for his beer. He will love that.
3. Hobbies
Find out if the guy that you are buying a gift for, has a hobby and then get him something in relation to that. Be sure to check what he already has, as he doesn’t need two of anything. If he likes working on the car in the evenings or on the weekend, get him some kind of gadget that makes his life easier when he is working on the car or on a special project idea. A great gift is some vinyl records that will bring him back to the good old days and will also allow him to listen to the music he loves, the right way.
Men will tell you what they want for a gift, so listen. They are not so subtle when it comes to this, so it should be fairly easy if you just ask him what he would like and you will generally get a direct answer. Ignore what he tells you at your peril because you think you know better.
