13-Year Old Shelter Cat Gets Rescued and Can’s Sleep Unless His New Owner Holds His Paw

This is Jamie. He is a 13 year old Burmese cat that was left in a shelter when his owner moved into a nursing home. When Jamie was brought into the shelter, he has bad teeth, kidney problems and cat flu. Luckily, the doctors gave Jamie the medical help he needed until he was feeling better. Although Jamie’s health got better, the shelter’s staff was worried that no one would be interested in adopting an old cat.

Luckily, a woman named Sarah Dampsey came into the shelter one day looking for a cat.

“When I first met Jamie, he was asleep, but woke up as I bent down to look at him. He clearly wanted some pats… I knew he’d rescue me from feeling alone, and I’d do the same for him,” said Sarah.

She decided to take Jamie home and she instantly fell in love with him. “He won’t leave my side. He likes talking to me at night and follows me around my apartment.”

The best part is when Jamie goes to sleep, he likes his mom to hold his paw. “If I let go he wakes up, meows, and claws my hand back to him. I think we’ve bonded already,” explains Dampsey.
