Your Guide To London This Summer

London – it needs little introduction as it’s the capital city of England and the United Kingdom. It’s bright, it’s busy, it’s enchanting, and it’s the ideal space to spend a summer.  It’s difficult to know where to start when advising travelers on where to go, what to see, and activities to partake in as there’s simply so many things that you cannot afford to miss. Even those living in London admit to frequently discovering new places, new hidden corners, and unexplored crevices. So, if you want to spend a summer in London, then you should prepare to be busy, active, and willing to frequently hop on and off of the city’s tube system.

See A Show

Be a part of it in the old West End for a truly unforgettable experience getting caught up in the whirlwind glitz and glamour of this part of the city. Then again, you needn’t venture to the West End in order to watch plays in London as theatres are peppered throughout the city in places you never expected they might be. If you’re searching for an intimate show, then it’s worth getting the tube to Earl’s Court and navigating your way to the Finborough Theatre that also doubles up as a pub – so you can watch a more insular and small-time production with the likes of a G&T or white wine in hand.

Riverside

One thing London doesn’t have is the tranquillity of the beach and gentle sound of waves lapping at the shore, however, there’s the River Thames, and that’s just as good, right? Well, it might not be a beach setting but it’s brimming with excitement in the form of boat rides, and riverside bars, restaurants, and galleries. You’d have a hard time being and staying bored in central London around the river as there’s so much to explore.

Free Fun

You can have fun in London without having to part with much of your hard-earned cash, as long as you know where to look, of course. In some cases, you’ll spend more money traveling to your destination than you will once you’re there. For ease when traveling on tubes and city buses, be sure to get yourself an Oyster card, or use your contactless debit card or even Apple Pay. Places of interest that are also free include The Museum of London Dockyards, The Horniman Museum, and great parks such as Richmond Park, Hyde Park, and Kensington Gardens.

The Landmarks

London’s landmarks are outstanding in their appearance come rain or shine, but for some of the best sights out to the city, you’re going to want a clear day to see out as far as you can over the many structures. For some of the best vantage points in London, you should try and get to The Shard – it stands at 306 meters tall so it’s certainly a great starting place to familiarise yourself with the London skyline. Other places include Greenwich park to gaze out from the hill, and of course, The London Eye. In order to access all of these landmarks quickly, you should consider hiring a Prius. They may be seen as cars for uber rides these days, but they are extremely reliable for temporary use.
