The 4th Trimester Bodies Project: This is What Women Really Look Like After Giving Birth

Ashlee Wells Jackson is a photographer and a mother of three. After giving birth to her twins, Ashlee was broken about the way her scarred and “monstrous” stomach looks. Decisive not to spend her life crying about her body, she decided to take a photo of herself with her daughter Nova. She asked women to join her, accept the changes and embrace the beauty of the women’s body.

That is how she created “The 4th Trimester Bodies Project” alongside her friend Laura Weetzie Wilson.

“It’s a photo project dedicated to embracing the beauty inherent in the changes brought to our bodies by motherhood, childbirth and breastfeeding,” explains Jackson.

She and Laura are trying to teach mothers that they don’t need to fix their bodies post-pregnancy but to embrace their new and amazing body.
