The Secret Recipe From 1940 Is Out: Cook KFC’s Chicken At Your Own Home

KFC has been carefully keeping their chicken recipe secret for almost 67 years. Lucky for us, the secret has been revealed by Colonel Sanders’s nephew accidentally and now we have the original recipe for KFC’s chicken that contains 11 herbs and spices.

Here’s the legendary recipe for KFC’s chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2/3 tbsp. salt
  • ½ tbsp. dried thyme
  • ½ tbsp. dried basil
  • 1/3 tbsp. dried marjoram
  • 1  tbsp. celery salt
  • 1  tbsp. ground black pepper
  • 1  tbsp. dry mustard
  • 4  tbsp. bell pepper powder
  • 2 tbsp. garlic salt
  • 1  tbsp. ground ginger
  • 3  tbsp. ground white pepper
  • 1 cup low-fat cream
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 sliced chicken; the fillet part should be additionally cut into halves for more even frying
  • Canola oil

Preparation:

Mix all the spices and the flour in a cup. Get another cup and mix the low fat cream and eggs in it. Soak the chicken into the egg and cream mixture and let them soak for 20-30 minutes. Take the chicken pieces out and then dip them into the spices mixture. Shake the excess off and put the chicken on a rack. Leave the chicken for 20 minutes.

Pour 8cm oil into a pot. Heat the pot over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces until they get a golden crust. Once the pieces are fried, lay them on a chicken plate that’s covered with paper towels.
