Scientists Explain How Newborn Babies See Their Parents

Most parents aren’t aware that their newborn baby can’t recognize their emotions. A research done by the Institute of Psychology in Oslo shows the way newborn babies see their parents and their emotions.

This research shows that 2-3 days old babies can see if their parents are happy or angry if they’re 11 inches apart. If the parent’s face is 23 inches away, they see blurry.

The research was done by showing photos of the parents to the babies. An indicator whether the baby recognizes the emotion was the baby’s reaction.

On average, every baby can distinct their parents’ emotions if they’re 11 inches apart.

Another thing the study showed is that although babies can imitate their parents face expressions, they can’t understand what they actually mean.
