Is It Safe to Cook With Aluminum Foil?

Aluminum is known as a neurotoxic element and a overexposure to aluminium can lead to autism, dementia and Parkinson’s disease.

A new study from the Keele University in the UK shows high levels of aluminum in the brains of people who died from Alzheimer’s disease.

The Link Between Aluminum and Alzheimer’s Disease

A 66–year old man was diagnosed with a severe case of Alzheimer’s after a 6-year exposure to aluminum dust.

Another study done in 2004 had shown high aluminum levels in the tissues of British women who died from Alzheimer’s disease.

Aluminum Is Hazardous

Overexposure to aluminum can be really hazardous, especially for people that work in industries such as factory work, mining, agriculture and welding.

Inhaling aluminum dust sends the particles directly into your lungs. They pass through your blood stream and then get distributed through your body, brain and bones. Aluminum powder can cause pulmonary fibrosis and asthma.

“Many researchers are beginning to accept that aluminum has some sort of role to play in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Whether it does in others is still an open question, but Alzheimer’s is really coming into focus and it’s fairly clear that the body burden of aluminum from all the sources to which humans are exposed may be contributing to Alzheimer’s disease.”

Aluminum occurs naturally in nature and it’s also found in many products on the market!

Aluminum is found in these products:

– Foods: salt, self-rising flour, baking powder, coffee creamers, processed food, baby formula, caking and coloring agents.
– Drugs: anti-diarrheals, antacids and analgesics.
– Vaccines: Hib, DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis), Hepatitis A and B, Gardasil (HPV) and others.
– Personal care products and cosmetics: deodorants, lotions, shampoos and sunscreens.

Does Your Frozen Dinner Come with Aluminum?

The journal “Environmental Sciences Europe” has published a study where scientists analyzed more than 1.400 beverages and non-animal foods for aluminum.

Here’s what they discovered:

  • 8 % had an aluminum concentration of up to 10 mg\kg
  • 5 % had aluminum concentrations between 10  and 100 mg\kg
  • 6 % had aluminum concentrations in excess of 100 mg/kg

When you cook your food in aluminum foil, you’re contaminating your body. Cooking food in aluminum foil increases aluminum concentration.

“Eating meals prepared in aluminum foil may carry a health risk by adding to other aluminum sources,” explain the researchers.

According to a study done in 2006, cooking in aluminum foil increases aluminum levels:

  • Aluminum levels increase with higher cooking temperature and longer cooking
  • Cooking red meat in aluminum foil increases aluminum levels by 90-380%
  • Cooking poultry in aluminum foil increases aluminum levels by 75-210%

Scientists agree that aluminum particles damage brain tissue and lead to many degenerative diseases. Over time, aluminum gets accumulated in your body and brain and it causes huge damages to your neurological system.

Products to Avoid Using

You need to avoid further exposure to aluminum and that’s why you need to stop using these products:

  • Antiperspirants that contain aluminum chloride
  • Aluminum laminated pouch drinks
  • Toothpastes that contain aluminium oxyhydroxide
  • Aluminum cookware
