Incredible Recovery: Tiger Rescued from The Circus Now Lives a Happy and Healthy Life

Aasha, the 9 months old Bengal tiger cub was part of a travelling circus. The Bengal cub was weighted only 30 pounds, which is the normal weight for a 3-month old tiger cub. Unfortunately, the cub was starving, mistreated in the circus and picked by a much larger tiger.

Vicky Keahey, the founder of Texas In Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Education Center found out about the cub and rescued her in 2011.

“Aasha’s bald spots covered almost her entire body and her skin was dry [with] cracked, darken areas and bleeding. Every day, twice a day, I would go in and give Aasha medications and spend time with her,” says Vicky.

Vicky also gave Aasha medicated baths which she didn’t like so Vicky had to chase her. After 8 weeks of treatment, Aasha’s fur began to heal and she started to like swimming.

Within eight months she looked like a real tiger. Aasha was also introduced to a bigger tiger named Smuggler who “went crazy for her and was always showing off for her.”explains Vicky.

Aasha and Smuggler now live together and she’s a happy and beloved tigress.
