Hero Dog Dayko That Rescued At Least 7 People From Ecuador Earthquake Rubble Has Died

A rescue dog for the Ibara fire service has managed to save 7 people from the 7.8-magnitude earthquake in Ecuador that happened on April, 15. Dayko, the 4-year-old dog spent days searching and saving the quake survivors. Unfortunately, last week Dayko suffered a heatstroke that led to a heart attack and died.

The organization posted a tribute to the 4-year old Labrador Dayko, to honor his heroism during the earthquake that left 650 people dead.

“Dayko was known for his good sense of smell and charisma and the beautiful friendship he established with his handler“, explains Alex Yela.

Veterinaries tried their best to save the dog but unfortunately, they couldn’t save his life.

Dozens of firefighters and rescue workers attended Dayko’s funeral and paid their respects to the brave hero!
