A Dog Guards Her Owner Who Was Injured In a House Fire

Precious, the pit bull stood guard over her owner who got injured in a fire that broke off in their home. The faithful dog stood by the owner’s side, even when the firefighters came. The firefighters that worked to extinguish the fire explains that they had a hard time getting to the injured woman since Precious didn’t want to leave her owner’s side and was even acting aggressively in order to protect her.

The firefighters had to use the powder fire extinguisher in her direction to get her away and to put her injured owner on the stretcher.

The fire broke out at Precious’ family’s home in Landover Hills, Maryland, early Wednesday. The loyal dog stood guard over her owner even after fire crews were called to the home.

Unfortunately, Precious and her puppy Molly ended up in an animal shelter because pit bulls are illegal in Maryland. Precious and her puppy won’t be put down, but they can’t return to their owner either.

On Thursday, Precious and Molly found a new home with their owner’s sister, Megan Sanchez, who lives in Montgomery County.

“She just wanted to protect her mommy, that’s all,” Sanchez said about Precious. “And her house.”

Sanche works with animals and has a dog of her own, says she’s happy to bring Precious and Molly home, and she’ll make sure the family can visit them any time.

“I’m glad they survived,” she said. “We’re animal lovers.”

The woman and her father, who was also injured, were taken to hospital. Both are expected to be fine.

“I wish I could get her back, but right now, we’ve got bigger fish to fry,”  said the owner`s son.

Along with Precious and Molly, another dog and two turtles were saved from the house. The other dog, who is not a pit bull, will be able to rejoin the family.
