Tools for skincare

For the skin to glow and look great, it’s necessary to adopt a multiple action plan and then stick to it like the “basic rules of your skin”:

Solar protection

One of the most important way of skin protection is protecting it from solar radiation (UVA and UVB), all around the year.

Exposing to sunlight determines premature skin aging, wrinkles, brownish spots and a great risk of skin cancer. It’s recommended to use a skin protection creams with at least SPF 15. Even if the sun appears to be less powerful in winter time, the UV rays are as bad for your skin as in the summertime.

Cleanse your skin

Showers with gentle warm water cleans the skin from the impurities and hydrates it, at the same time. Your face should be cleaned twice a day, in the morning and in the evening with warmer water to get rid of excess sebum. You should apply on the face also a toner and a hydrating cream.

Hot showers can give you a temporary comfort, but on the long run, they can harm your skin because they destroy the natural oils that protects the skin, leading to a crackly top layer of the skin.

Another way of skincare is weekly exfoliation. Getting rid of deadly skin cells will give the skin a smooth and silky feeling. The exfoliation cream used for the face must be milder than the one used for your body. Pay attention to the skin care products you use, especially for the sensitive skin.

Eating and drinking regime

Skin hydration should come from the outside as well from the inside. For the skin to be smooth and shiny, you should consume at least 1,5L of water a day. The water contributes also to reducing acne, clearing pores. And it’s not that hard to drink more water, too.

You should consume fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and antioxidants, best are apricots, blueberries, yellow bell pepper, avocado, carrots, pumpkin, spinach, cabbage and tomatoes. Also, salmon, sardines and mackerel contain omega-3 fatty acids, which can help keep skin in good condition, preventing aging and the harmful effects of the sun. Dark chocolate, consumed with moderation will contribute with antioxidants, improving skin texture and preventing acne and skin aging.

You should avoid foods that are dangerous to the skin, like the ones that contain carbohydrates or sugars, but also fats.

Lifestyle

For a firm skin with a youth feeling, you need enough sleep, that’s about 7 to 9 hours of sleep. Lack of sleep means a faded look for the skin, wrinkles formation, dark circles and bags under your eyes. Pretty terrifying, right?

Stress is also a factor in skin aspect. For a good relaxation, you could have medium to long outdoor activities, walks but also breathing exercises. Few hours or fitness weekly means rising the blood flow at the upper levels of the skin, forming oxygen packs and nutritive substances.

Another way of dramatically improving your skin look and feel is giving up smoking. It destroys collagen and elastin, forming wrinkles and dark circles around the eyes.

Conclusion

So, let’s sum up: there are internal and external factors that damages the skin. What you eat and what you drink is a big deal. But also, don’t forget the lifestyle, sports and solar protection – these are all factors that will add up to the skin improvement.
