The video “100 Years of Beauty”, published last year became an instant Internet sensation.
It was the first video from a series that show how women’s trends changed throughout the years.
Blogger Karolina Żebrowska from Poland noticed that these videos are actually unrealistic and superficial because they only showed the stylistic changes of women of upper-class women that could afford glamour. The reality was that not many women lived that glamorous lifestyle and that most women that lived in the 20th century weren’t that glamorous at all!
“Sometimes we’re not aware that these kinds of beauty videos are stereotypical and that’s why I made this video, to show the “real” reality,” says Karolina.
She created her own beauty-through-the-decades video after finding that the many videos out there purporting to show beauty through the decades are done in a ‘stereotypical’ way.
