Army Soldier In Afghanistan Refused To Leave Special Needs Kitten Behind

Christine Weber Bouldin met little Felix, the special needs cat, when she was in the service of the US Army in Afghanistan, 2008.

When Christine was told that there is a mother cat with her kitten wandering around the base, she immediately went searching for them. That’s how she found the little kitten with big ears and difficulty walking.

She started to feed the cat and her baby every day. She fell in love with the cats and she started to think how to bring them in the US. Unfortunately, one day the mother disappeared, and Christine was worried that someone would hurt the vulnerable kitten.

The kitten suffered from Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a disease that affects the motor skills. But, despite his condition, Felix was a completely normal and healthy cat.

Weber and her friends built a little house for the kitten while she was looking for his temporary home.

Bouldin returned home in February 2009, but before her return to Virgina, she managed to find a woman to look after Felix. Meanwhile, she was preparing all the papers required for his traveling. She paid close to $2,000 in shipping costs to fly Felix home.

Now, Felix lives in Lakewood, Colorado, with her new mom. Shortly after Felix’s arrival, Christine and her husband, adopted another male cat, named Bouldin. She calls them “two peas in a pod.”
