5 Reasons to Have a Baby Later in Life

If you are in your 20s, but already thinking about having a baby, this article will help you evaluate the negative side of this decision.

Why Should You Have a Baby Later in Life?

I would like to start with a disclaimer. It is absolutely fine to have a baby at the age of 18 if that is your sensible adult decision. At the same time it is also fine never to have a baby. It is your body, and only you have a right to decide what to do about it.

However, if you are still young and in college, there are many downsides to this decision. There are paper writing companies that can save your time with college homework help, and parents can be of assistance. Nonetheless, it is still extremely hard, and you need to think twice before doing it.

1.     Maturity

I don’t mean to say that all young people are irresponsible and frivolous. However, the older you get, the more experiences you collect. Those you can use to make more informed choices and also endure less stress in life.

Maturity means you will be more prepared to tackle all the difficulties a child will inevitably bring into your life. If you can barely figure out how to fill in your tax returns – just imagine how hard it will be to have a child on top of all the daily trials.

2.     Money

Even if you do not have a fancy career, you are still more likely to have at least a semblance of financial stability in your 30s than in your 20s. Children can be very expensive, and you as a parent will need to be ready for that.

Having more money means you can send your kid to childcare without depleting your flimsy budget. It means you can buy them books and toys to foster their development. You can also feed them healthy food which is essential to their growth both physically and intellectually.

3.     Love

A shotgun marriage does not bode well even for the most romantic relationship. Having a child later in life allows you and your partner to grow as a couple which should make you invulnerable to the distress a child can cause.

You will have more time to travel and explore the world, as well as understand each other better. A lifetime is not enough to get to know a person, but 5-10 years is definitely better than a couple months. This way you will at least know what to expect from your partner in terms of child care.

4.     Fun

As a young person, you, probably, still have that bursting energy which keeps you up on the dance floor all night. Once you have a baby, you will need to forgo these earthly pleasures. Having a child will keep you locked in your house most of the time and it can lead to immense frustration.

You do not want to hate your kid just because you cannot go out with your friends anymore. Therefore, instead of giving in to an immediate desire, think of the activities you will need to refuse after giving birth. Then decide if having a kid is worth it.

5.     Career

If you are an ambitious person, a baby can seriously hinder your career prospects. If you, however, have already established yourself as a true professional, a company is more likely to adjust to your needs as a newly minted parent.

If you are at the onset of your career, it will be much harder for you to get any time off and save your position in general. Thus, if you do not want to end up unemployed, with little savings and a baby in your hands – consider having one later in life.
