5 Foundation Mistakes You Need to Stop Making

Finding the right foundation and applying it the right is the key to perfect makeup look. Sandy Linter, a celebrity makeup artists and beauty expert explains that women often do a lot of mistakes when it comes to applying the foundation. Well, it’s time to stop doing those foundation mistakes and Sandy is going to help you.5-Foundation-Mistakes-You-Need-to-Stop-Making-1

Here are the 5 foundation mistakes you need to stop doing:

1. Matching the color exactly

“Many women get color matched right to skin tone and are unhappy with the results, since it can end up looking too washed out,” says Linter.

If you’re really pale, choose a bit warmer tone because it will look more flattering and natural. If you’re tanned, don’t use pinkish hues.

2. Concealing with heavy coverage

Don’t use heavy concealer to cover blemishes, fine lines and discoloration because it will only draw more attention to you imperfections.

“Foundation is really meant to enhance what you have or to moderately even out your complexion,” explains Linter.

Use highlighters and primers to cover fine lines and discoloration and a lighter concealer to cover your blemishes.

3. Using the wrong consistency

Foundation needs to blend into your skin when you apply it to look natural and flawless. If you have dry skin, avoid using powder foundation because it will settle into your lines and pores. If you have oily skin, don’t use liquid foundation because your face will end up looking wet. Foundations with creamy texture are perfect for every skin type.

4. Thinking that your foundation is making you look older

“Foundation has a bad rap because it’s been used incorrectly by so many, but don’t be afraid to wear it,” says Linter.

Reality is, the right foundation will actually make you look younger. The key is to find a foundation that applies and blends smoothly.

5. Applying everything, everywhere

There’s no need to apply a ton of foundation to look gorgeous. Apply a thin layer of foundation and then apply concealer under your eyes and on your blemishes. Blend the concealer with your finger to make it look more natural. Apply some powder only to the center of your face.

The bottom line is that finding the right foundation formula and foundation is the key to having a flawless look. Remember, less is more!
